Tim Atack is a composer, songwriter and musician best known for song-writing for artists including Des’Ree - Tim co-wrote ‘I’m Kissing You’ with Des’Ree which featured in Baz Lurhman’s Romeo & Juliet - and for his work on a diverse range of documentaries and feature dramas. With an extensive career marked by a successful partnership with filmmakers such as Daniel Gordon, John Dower and Ricky Gervais, Tim has contributed to over a decade of award-winning documentaries including Wham! for Netflix and much-loved features The Invention Of Lying and Cemetry Junction.
Tim has contributed to over a decade of award-winning documentaries, most notably The Trials of Oscar Pistorius and Hillsborough for the BBC, and Wham! (Netflix). His recent work with Daniel Gordon includes the score for Strike: An Uncivil War (Netflix).
Tim has collaborated with John Dower writing the music with Lindsay Wright for The Mystery of DB Cooper (HBO) and, solo, the Sky documentary Lockerbie, which won the 2024 BAFTA for Best Factual Series.
Beyond his extensive work in documentaries, Tim has also made significant contributions to feature films. He composed the music for The Invention of Lying and Cemetery Junction, both directed by Ricky Gervais, and The Christmas Candle. Tim's diverse body of work also includes music for Among Giants, Elephant Juice, and Quite Ugly One Morning, all of which were directed by Sam Miller.
Tim’s career began in the 1970s playing drums with the band Child and later forming The Duel with his twin brother Keith. It was in the 1990s that he gained widespread recognition when he became the keyboard player and musical director for the British singer Des’ree. During this period, Tim co-wrote the song I’m Kissing You, which was famously featured in Baz Luhrmann’s 1996 film Romeo + Juliet.
